A word about the garden
This summer's heatwave burned a large part of the lawn, and the council had to dig a trench in front of the main entrance to renew the water pipes. The result isn't up to the standard of the rest of the house, and we're genuinely sorry. Both are out of our hands — the grass will come back.

What's off limits
Please read on arrival
Please respect
- The barn — the one with the ping-pong table — is the only outbuilding open to guests. You'll also find a freezer there, available if you need it.
- The vegetable garden is off limits. Please don't go in or pick anything.
- The power strip under the pergola must not be moved or altered. Please don't unplug anything — one socket is left free for your own devices.
- The lawnmower must not be touched or moved. Take particular care around its cable.

The essentials
Heating
- The pellet stove is set to manual mode — deliberately. On 'home' mode it would fire up by itself.
- So it's up to you to light it and set the temperature you'd like.
- Between 17 and 20 °C, the house is more than warm enough.
- One bag of pellets per day is provided. Beyond that, extra bags are at your expense.
- Electric radiators are also available in every room.
Parking
- Please park on the gravel only — never on the terrace or the grass.
- Two spaces on the gravel to the left as you come in through the gate.
- One or two further spaces on the gravel, just inside the gate.

The Nordic bath
Lighting the fire is optional: you can enjoy the bath cold, at ambient temperature, without lighting the stove. If you do heat it, allow several hours — it's best to start the fire well ahead of time.
The 20-second version
- Shower and put on a swimsuit before getting in
- Up to 6 people in the bath
- Never alone, and an adult always watches children
- Ideal water 37–39 °C, never above 42 °C
- No cream, no oil, no alcohol — nothing in the water
- Get in calmly by the ladder, without jumping
- At the first sign of feeling unwell, get out — and drink water
Lighting the stove
- The firewood is in the barn, next to the ping-pong table. Use only dry wood (50 cm maximum).
- Firewood for the bath is provided. If it runs low, please top it up — extra logs are at your expense.
- Before lighting, check the water level is at least 5 cm above the stove's upper pipe inlet. Never heat if the level is too low: contact the agency, who will tell you exactly what to do.
- Start with a firelighter and kindling, then add logs gradually.
- Always keep an eye on the fire — never leave it unattended, even if no one is bathing.
- Keep the space around the stove and flue clear of any objects.
The pump & filtration · Essential reading
- Never change the pump settings. They are set for the house and must not be altered under any circumstances.
- The pump filters the water continuously: it must be running whenever nobody is in the bath.
- If the suction feels too strong — especially for young children — you may unplug the pump while you're in the bath. As soon as you get out, plug it back in without fail. Without filtration the water goes stagnant and quickly turns cloudy and smelly.
- Never empty the bath. That is never your job. If there's a problem, contact the agency: someone will come out as soon as possible.
- After three to four days of daily use, you may add a single tablet to the water. No more than that, and no other product.
- LED lighting: it isn't connected yet and doesn't work for now. Nothing wrong on your side.
Points to watch
- Drowning risk: never leave a child alone in or around the bath.
- Never touch the stove or flue during or just after heating — they are scalding hot.
- Slippery surfaces around the bath — move carefully.
- Never bathe alone, or after drinking alcohol.
